About RONE 1176
RONE 1176 is a FET limiting amplifier: the fast, forward compressor you hear on vocals, drums and basses on countless records. There is no threshold to hunt for. Turn INPUT up and it compresses harder, set OUTPUT to taste, and choose how it grabs with ATTACK and RELEASE.
RATIO gives you 4, 8, 12 and 20 - and ALL, every button pushed in at once, the aggressive setting producers reach for on room mics and drum buses when they want it to bite. The VU meter reads gain reduction or the output level at +8 or +4, or switches off.
Press SCOPE and a screen opens under the unit: the output wave and the gain reduction, drawn on your DAW's bar. You see where it clamps on the kick, how much it lets back on the off-beat, and whether the release breathes with the groove - instead of guessing from a needle.
Its sound was fitted to measurements of the classic hardware, control by control. VST3, AU and Standalone, on Windows and macOS.
